Friends of PACC collaborates with La Estrella Bakery to raise funds as part of the PACC en Español Campaign

Friends of PACC, in partnership with Pima Animal Care Center and the Pima County Communications Office, recently wrapped up an incredibly impactful collaboration with La Estrella Bakery as part of the PACC en Español campaign. This initiative focused on zip codes 85706 and 85713, where the number of pets entering the shelter far exceeds those being adopted, fostered, or returned home.

From September to December 2024, La Estrella baked and sold special cone-shaped cookies (for humans!), generously donating 100% of proceeds to Friends of PACC. At just $1 per cookie, this community-driven effort helped raise critical funds to support programs that keep pets and families together.

Since PACC en Español launched in January 2024, the campaign has:

  • Reached thousands of Spanish-speaking pet owners through social media, radio, and TV.

  • Hosted 21 community events, providing pet food, supplies, and resources.

  • Provided 1,286 free microchips to dogs, helping lost pets find their way home.

  • Distributed over 2,000 free collars and ID tags, increasing the chances of reunification.

In recognition to their incredible generosity and commitment to the community, the Pima County Board of Supervisors honored the Franco family, owners of La Estrella Bakery, on January 21 for their valuable contributions to this campaign.

We are beyond grateful to La Estrella Bakery and the Franco family for their generosity and commitment to helping pets and families in our community. Thank you for being true champions for pets and the people who love them!
