Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) has a very special event planned for Valentine’s Day week! Michele Figueroa, Internal Operations Manager at PACC, will be spending a week in one of the shelter’s kennels with one of the pets who has been there the longest.
Figueroa has worked at the shelter for 15 years, and was excited to volunteer to support the longest-stay dogs. The goal is to highlight how important it is for a pet’s well-being to have a chance in a foster home. Foster homes give the shelter adoption counselors valuable insight into the behaviors and needs of a pet once it is in a home. This insight ultimately helps adoption counselors place the pets in successful, long-term homes.
There will be a special kickoff on Feb. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the shelter on 4000 N. Silverbell Rd.
Friends of Pima Animal Care Center, the official nonprofit partner to PACC, is sponsoring the event and will have snacks and raffle prizes. Figueroa will go into the kennel with a pup at 5 o’clock. There, she will hand out free adoption coupons to the public until closing. Figueroa will stay in the kennel every night through Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day.
Figueroa will have an air mattress, a phone, and a laptop so that she can document her experiences. The public is encouraged to watch the live streams on the PACC Facebook page during the week because there will be prize drawings for those who donate $14 or more to the Friends of PACC between Feb. 10th and Feb. 14th using the button above.
