Top Five Saves- #1 Bubbles
2018 has been an incredible year. Pima Animal Care Center has made historic strides in their efforts to save the lives of the most vulnerable homeless pets in Pima County. Supporters of Friends of PACC are a critical part of that story. We simply wouldn’t be where we are today without the continuous outpouring of time, treasure, and talent from our community.
The people of Pima County care deeply about these precious lives and those of us who work at PACC are lucky enough to see evidence of this every single day. Saving the lives of orphaned pets take every person doing everything they can, and our final story is a heartwarming example this coming together.
For the final story in our Top Five Saves of 2018, meet Bubbles. He was found wandering the streets of Tucson severely emaciated, swollen, and in tremendous pain. A kind hearted person called Pima Animal Care Center and an Animal Protection Officer was able to bring him in for treatment.
He received immediate care in the PACC clinic. His condition was shocking to everyone, and at first we all feared the worst. But we never gave up on him. A special volunteer spent time with him in his kennel, offering him chicken and comfort. After just a short time in the clinic his swelling started to go down. His appetite was good, and his tail never stopped wagging.
We searched for a foster family to give Bubbles the space he needed to stay warm and continue to heal. While he waited he spent time in PACC’s administrative offices where he received endless food and love from the staff. It wasn’t long before a loving foster family stepped up to take on his ongoing care.
After less than a month in his foster home, he came back to the PACC clinic to get his all-clear. The Bubbles that visited staff was almost unrecognizable as the dog first brought in by an Animal Protection Officer. He’d gained weight, started to grow his fur back, and had no more swelling. It was a true miracle transformation that brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
The best part? Bubbles’ foster parents officially adopted him! His name is now Urni and he’s living the good life with two dog sisters and his parents.
