New Horizons in Veterinary Care: Welcoming the First Recipients of the Friends of PACC Fellowship

Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is set to enrich its veterinary team this fall thanks to a pioneering fellowship program in collaboration with its official nonprofit partner, Friends of PACC. Jillian LaCroix-Martin and Camryn Parker, two bright veterinary students from the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine, are the distinguished first recipients of the Friends of PACC Fellowship, marking a significant step towards bridging the gap in veterinary care within Pima County.

Despite available funding for six full-time veterinarians, PACC has grappled with staffing shortages, mirroring a national challenge. The addition of LaCroix-Martin and Parker promises to bolster PACC’s clinic operations and enhances its outreach efforts through Karen’s Karing Van, a mobile medical unit dedicated to serving under-resourced communities.

This fellowship, made possible by the generosity of donors, underscores a community-driven approach to sustaining and advancing veterinary care. It reflects a shared commitment to animal welfare and represents a significant milestone for pet families and shelter animals in Pima County. As Friends of PACC gears up for the next fellowship class, the community's support remains crucial in fostering a nurturing environment for pets in need.
